If you have an infant (under 1 year old) this is not the most accurate thermometer. The number changes based on how far/close you are and where I'm pointing. This not insignificant difference of 0.5 to 1 can be very critical if you have a child in the house. However, if you have an older child and an adult, that's fine. The numbers are easy to see and user-friendly. I haven't used the app so I can't comment on that part. I just use it like a regular thermometer and when I have doubts about the numbers I use my Braun.
