Poor fit for Wrangler Convertible

Too bad to give a star. I have been a fan of BesTop for years, have purchased many of their products and received great service. You really screwed it up. 81035 is a very bad redesign of the previous 81031. It fit perfectly and lasted a long time so I know they know how to do it. Too bad they don't offer that anymore. The overall fit of 81035 is poor and doesn't work with standard half doors and mirrors. You can leave the doors on, but you'll at least have to remove the mirrors or cut holes in the lid. Or Bestop offers to remove the whole door. Three point seat belts and no doors is a very bad combination. If you roll, you're toast. Mine saved me so I think they are very important for safety. Exterior mirrors are also very important for safety, especially when maneuvering in tight spaces with tight bends. Note. By law, most (if not all) states require at least one outside mirror. The rubber bands for pulling the lid back are very loose. The older model was the same. Barely ok when new, but can be stretched and knotted for acceptable performance. The rubber straps that are supposed to hold the front in place by hooking into the windshield hinge don't work well with the factory hinges and don't want to stay in place. Once elasticity is lost, it is useless. The plastic tabs on the bottom edges of the lid, two on each side of the tail, tuck under the factory top latch rail and work very well. They could use a few more of those in the back. The older 81031 model had plenty of these and they held up securely even in strong winds. We towed to 75 and nothing fell off. I doubt you can do it with this one.

Pros
  • Uses a BeltRail duct system to seal the rear of the body tightly and securely
Cons
  • Faulty
