I switched from a remote powered switch to this switch after hearing that most powered switches are not very well designed (audio/video noise). The video quality looks the same as with a direct connection and the sound quality is no longer degraded. The device is made of metal and appears solid and well made. I haven't had any issues with the grommet detaching from the ports as others have mentioned. I have a couple of cables with fairly large plugs that hardly fit side by side so it would be nice to have 1-2mm more between the plugs on the back to reduce some horizontal stress, but I'm not particularly bothered. Definitely worth buying if you're looking for a basic switch.
