I prefer computer mice designed for use with laptops and other portable computers ("mobile mouse") as they are a bit smaller and mine In my opinion, more convenient to use than the full-size models. I use Microsoft and Logitech "mobile" mice and for the last few years they are all wireless AND optical. Those oars don't bother me. I have two computers that use an older version of this Microsoft 3500 and they are my favorite mice now. When a new computer was added to my stable of heavily used machines I needed a different mouse, but the old model I like was discontinued and replaced with this model 3500. Those who still had the old ones wanted big bucks for them, so I went with the 3500. This mouse seems to be a bit lighter than the old version, but I'm not sure if this is a technical improvement to reduce weight. a wearable product or just a cost-saving step to make a product cheaper. Maybe both! Of course, this mouse looks simpler, has one color less plastic trim, and I believe that makes it cheaper to manufacture. The older one has a roller with a smooth but grippy surface. On the other hand, this 3500 has a knurled wheel. I prefer the way it was done on the old mouse simply because the knurling collects grease and dirt from your fingers over time. Still, it's a nice, ergonomic, and well-functioning wireless optical mouse. Please note that this mouse does NOT use Bluetooth to communicate directly with the laptop's built-in Bluetooth receiver. It comes with a tiny USB adapter that you can use that permanently occupies one of your computer's USB ports. The key is small enough to leave plugged into your laptop even when it's in your bag or backpack for portability. However, I have found that this key sticks out a little more on my new computer than I would like. To avoid damage, I always put the computer in my backpack key.
