Use a rubber mallet
We bought 3 of these 5 shelf units and assembled them. It was quick work and while they don't say tools are needed, a rubber mallet helped a lot. If you can get these blocks together by just snapping them together and being incredibly strong, you'll probably be fine. But I'm not young anymore and a rubber mallet helped a lot. If you hit enough, the hammer sound will change to a firmer one. The three devices also don't have the small height difference that others report, at least not a big one. The floor isn't quite level. While not metal, they seem strong enough for most things. And they are not as heavy as metal shelves.
