I'm a USMC tanker and Vertx FR Assaulters are just about perfect for my job. The combination of comfort, dexterity and hand protection you get with these gloves is phenomenal. The quality is top notch - right where it should be for a $60 pair of gloves. Vertx is a newer company, particularly in the tactical glove market, but they're definitely getting it right. Of course, compared to mechanical gloves, the shape of the FR Assaulters fits your hand better and the leather palm makes the gloves better feel and easier to use. whatever you hold. This is achieved through a tighter fit on the hand and a more pliable material than the synthetic materials used in other gloves. When using mechanical gloves, I always had to take them off for tricky tasks like driving a screw in a hard-to-reach place. These gloves allow me to wear them because they have the dexterity needed, and that's very important for reasons I'll get into later. Aramid fiber backing. Most of the time when I'm working on the engine or transmission they have just been started and are therefore very HOT and I need something to protect my hands from accidentally touching hot parts while working. FR Assaulters significantly slow the transfer of heat to my hand if I accidentally touch something hot, and unlike almost any other tactical or mechanical glove, they don't melt or drip if they get too hot. I've had a couple of nasty burns in the past from touching something hot with the back of my mechanic's gloves and they melted and stuck to my skin almost immediately - no fun! The fact that FR Assaulters don't have this problem, combined with the fact that they have enough dexterity that I can hold them all the time, has almost eliminated the hand injuries I've sustained on the job, which is something for me is just huge. . Please note these gloves are NOT insulated and are therefore NOT intended for intentional, frequent handling of hot objects, welding or anything involving exposure to direct heat for more than a few seconds - the gloves are fine, but you will get it burned if you try to use them for that. They are designed for dexterity and protection against accidental contact with hot objects and they meet these criteria very well. FR Assaulters are also pretty versatile. I've used them for driving, shooting, mud crawling etc and the best way to describe them is "like mechanical gloves but better". It's nice to be able to take just one pair of gloves with you in the field and not have to worry about changing them for other tasks. I will say that if you are looking for a dedicated shooting glove, you are probably better off with something like the Pig FDT Delta gloves. One thing that makes FR Assaulters less shooting-friendly is the reinforcement between the thumb and forefinger, which is good for durability but makes it a bit difficult to grip firearms with confidence. However, this is a very small problem. If you're good at shooting with mechanical gloves, you'll be fine with these. In terms of durability, they've already outlasted my regular and "material4x" mechanics gloves. Haven't worn my first pair yet so can't say for sure how long they will last but I'm happy with how they've held up so far. I suspect the skin on the fingertips would probably be there first as it is quite thin and a high wear area. If I remember, I'll update this review when they finally wear out. I don't have any major complaints about these gloves, but I have to write something critical, so here are a few small things. I would like them to be offered in Coyote Brown in the future. I imagine they will be very popular as this color goes better with almost any camo pattern and my green gloves with Desert MARPAT look a little weird in them. They still work, though, and you can't go wrong by just buying the black ones. It would also be nice if they offered them with an elasticated cuff, similar to the "fast" version of the Mechanis gloves. It's personal preference but I find it easier and quicker to put them on this way, no fiddling with the velcro, you just put them on. In terms of touchscreen compatibility, it works well and I like that they removed it from the index finger for better trigger control. However, on the two fingers that have it, I found them a little tighter than everyone else. In cold weather, the thumb and middle fingertips would go numb a little sooner than the rest. If they just made those two fingertips a little bigger, it would alleviate that small problem. As said no major complaints these gloves are amazing if you think they suit your needs just buy them you won't regret it. The dimensions are basically the same as the mechanics.
