First, let me explain why I'm 100% done with ultrasonic humidifiers. Although I've tried in-tank filter cartridges and filtered water, over time ultrasonic humidifiers always create a fine white dust that sticks to everything: window walls, ceiling fans, every nook and cranny of everything in your home. If you don't believe me, let it run for a few weeks, then grab a flashlight and take a good look around your house. Some don't emit a noticeable amount of white dust at first, but eventually all do, despite thorough and regular cleaning. Most people find this a relatively minor nuisance and have no problem with it, but I have severe asthma and I'm telling you, if you have asthma, it'S BAD! I would choke no matter how many meds I took and it would only get worse until I just stopped taking mine and thoroughly cleaned the white dust. So I parted with ours last year as the cost and hassle of using distilled water in humidifiers that run 24/7 in late fall, winter and spring is not worth it. evaporative humidifiers, but I've slowly come to realize that: 1. you always have to clean whatever type of humidifier you use, so it's of no use, and 2. the cost of replacement wicks is a pain in the wallet, but it's less of a hassle, than cleaning every nook and cranny of your home. every week and 3. White dust is so bad for asthma it's just not worth playing with. After reading many different reviews and online product guides for different evaporative humidifiers, I settled on this one. And it's AMAZING! Serious. It is very easy to take apart for cleaning, there are no edges or corners inside that you cannot reach and wipe clean, the clear water tank is very easy to fill as it is flat at the top and bottom, and it is fairly quiet. ! Sure, it's not as quiet as an ultrasonic humidifier, but that doesn't really matter. At low speeds, it sounds like a quiet fan noise, but still produces a decent amount of humidity. I'm very happy with the Vornado fans - we have 4 of them at home. And since an evaporative humidifier is just a fan, a container of water, and a wick, the quality of the fan seems to be very important. And it's great! The touchscreen controls are easy to use, but note that when you press the ECO setting button, the humidifier will only operate within the specified humidity range. If you want constant humidification, simply turn off the ECO mode and press the + button until the highest humidity percentage is reached, then another press of the button will activate the CO or continuous mode. It's simple but I think some people didn't understand how it works as I read some reviews where I complained that their humidifier cuts off at 60% or only works within a certain range. It is intended! Just turn off the Eco setting and you're done if you want it running all the time. Seriously, this is the best humidifier I've ever had in terms of ease of use and cleaning. We bought 2 of these, one for upstairs use and one for downstairs use and I'm only using one at the moment as we haven't fully run the heating yet. But winter is coming! So I will update my review if anything changes.
