USB capture card. With a Hauppauge capture card, videos are very pale compared to a CRT TV. Some tapes that look and sound great on my CRT TV shake with poor audio on Hauppage. I tried the same shaky tape with this new setting and the shaky and audio issues were gone. I bought this AV to HDMI converter specifically for 4:3/16:9 switching because I read that all converters with 720p/1080p switching automatically convert the original 4:3 video to 16:9 stretch. When the switch is in the 4:3 position, the picture is not stretched but has two black bars on either side of the video. When the switch is in the 16:9 position, video is stretched to 16:9. I use OBS Studio to record my VHS tapes, which is a huge improvement over WinTv 8.5.
