I have to admit that given the price I didn't have high expectations for this slider. After a few uses I was surprised that it works as well as it does. The movement is very smooth and the resulting video looks great. Moving the camera to get smooth video takes a bit of practice, but if you're after 5-9 seconds of footage it's actually pretty easy. The length is almost correct. Actually I could use 48-60 inches but it would be heavy, difficult to balance and difficult to transport. Why not 5 stars? For most shots I have to put it on a tripod. Because of the length, it works best. with two tripods, however, moving the entire setup with two tripods attached is difficult. I ended up just using a tripod as I never had a table or work surface that was as high as my torso, which was convenient for using the sliding legs. is to prevent 5-7 pounds of the camera and attached gear from tipping all over the rig when the camera is at the other end of the slider. Adding a weight suspended from the tripod helps, but then another problem becomes apparent - the slider flexes. As the camera moves, the slider bends just enough for the video to feel like the camera is moving in an arc. To fix the kink I added support arms attached to the tripod legs. It works, but now the whole setup is almost as unwieldy as two tripods. There is a clip on the slider that prevents it from moving. I am concerned that the clamp could damage the carbon fiber tubes, especially during shipping. The included zippered pouch provides minimal protection for the slider and does not hold the slider in place. A decent plastic double gun case will protect the slider better and also keep the slider in place. Now that you've spent $90 more, this slider is more convenient to use and easier to carry.
