Do not recommend this dye for soy candles! Because soy melts at a much lower temperature than beeswax or paraffin, these rock-hard cubes "refused" to melt properly. On my second try, I mashed the cubes with the back of a spoon on a paper plate, then scraped the color into the hot wax. It worked really well, but what a pain in the ass! In the next batch, I pre-melted the cubes in a 2-cup glass measuring cup, then added soy wax flakes and microwaved it all. It worked very well. Unfortunately, all my wax melts "frozen", which has never happened to me. I'm not a newbie to candle making, but I went back and reviewed all the steps I set out to do. Nothing seemed wrong so I started googling why I was getting this "icing on the cake". In some cases it's the dye itself. Oh great. So I ordered new color flakes, not cubes, and there was NO "frosting"! Also, it took a lot more of this dye to get a nice color. I made very small batches (1-1 1/2 cups of wax per color) and still needed at least 2 cubes to get a nice vibrant color. The blue, green, and yellow turned out fine, but even after using all SIX red dice, I still had something of a hot pink. I ended up selling melted wax because I couldn't sell them. However, with the color change, I was able to replace all the crappy ones with new ones. Save time, money and hassle by purchasing either liquid paint or flakes. is the dye itself. Oh great.
