Review on πŸ”Œ APC P6WU2 Wall Outlet Plug Extender: Surge Protector with USB Ports, 6 AC Multi Plug Outlet, 1080 Joule Surge Protection - White by Christopher Smith

Revainrating 1 out of 5

There are several, all excellent, a few points to note.

We chose this device for its clean, neutral white color and the fact that the connectors face outward. Some wall-mounted surge protectors have the grounding plug (the third round one) pointing toward the wall, making the device unusable for three-prong power supplies. This device is well made, looks clean, has a highly visible backlight that won't bother you in a dark room, and is very easy to install. The screw that came with it was enough for all but one of our sockets, so we bought some longer mounting screws at our local hardware store. After a lot of research we found it to be one of the top two or three rated devices. They are used in locations prone to lightning strikes and we have not experienced any damage to our connected electronics since installing them. Remember that this unit has only ONE plug (on the back) that plugs into the wall and that plugs into the top plug of the wall outlet. So if you use this in an outlet where the top plug is switched (i.e. the outlet that connects to a light switch), that particular light switch will turn the entire surge protector on and off. If your outlet is upside down, you'll have to turn this device upside down too, which isn't as attractive as it should be. This special light switch turns the entire surge protector on and off. Even if your outlet is upside down, you'll also have to install this device upside down, which isn't as attractive as it should be.
