Make sure your outlet has a center screw

Need a small multi-outlet surge protector. Thought it would work perfectly. I received it and found that it cannot be used unless you have old fashioned sockets with a screw in the middle. Will not work with modern Decora style sockets that do not have a screw. I checked the Revain specs again and couldn't find this information anywhere. Only in the small print of the instructions is it written that it cannot be used in a socket without a central screw. Most modern homes built in the last 15…

Bad USB charging. may stop working after a few months

I bought this product over a year ago but one day the device just stopped working for no reason after a few months. There is no warranty information on the website. I didn't use the product for the first few months. The USB charging port is also not as strong as advertised. You can't charge iPhone 7/8 plus or next generation iPad at high speed, it's even slower than the original one you get. Regardless of whether an app is running or not, the battery is charged and discharged at the same time…

It's not about Joule

With a name like Essential it doesn't promise much. Still, it's decent for the directly attached protection. I have four of these protecting inexpensive electronics. The direct-connect design with side vents is convenient for many applications, helps keep floors clutter-free, and doesn't require a large offset when used behind furniture. It also has a SurgeArrest feature that will disable the device if it gets compromised. The ratings on the back of my device are: Voltage protection class: LN…

  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

For the layperson, buying a surge protector can be very confusing. The marketing departments want you to pay attention to the huge writing that tells you their device is so good they include $100,000! Insurance coverage for any device damaged by surge voltage. But don't be surprised if you find that there are so many conditions that you'll be lucky if you get a refund for your surge protector. Instead, focus on a few basic specs and you'll save a lot of initial money, allowing you to buy more…

There are several, all excellent, a few points to note.

We chose this device for its clean, neutral white color and the fact that the connectors face outward. Some wall-mounted surge protectors have the grounding plug (the third round one) pointing toward the wall, making the device unusable for three-prong power supplies. This device is well made, looks clean, has a highly visible backlight that won't bother you in a dark room, and is very easy to install. The screw that came with it was enough for all but one of our sockets, so we bought some…

USB charging ports are 1.2A, not 2.4A!

Just bought 2 of these APC-6 output arresters with (2) 2.4A USB chargers. When I plugged in my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with fast charge technology, to my surprise none of mine did Charge phones fast. The phone's fast charge option is disabled when I plug it into a 'supposed' 2.4 amp USB port for charging. My phones came with an adaptive fast charger (2.0A) and when I used it on one of my Note 4 phones and the APC USB port on two of my Note 4 phones the results were shocking. The APC 2.4A USB port
