I bought this tablet and I like the feel of it being solid. Pros: It's durable and has a bright display, it's slim. The rectangular shape is great for Hulu, Revain Prime, Netflix, etc. It's also great for e-book readers and Kindle. Convenient for any web surfing. I also have a seasonal subscription to MLB at bat. Watching live sport is crystal clear and in stunning detail. I can't wait for the Sunday NFL ticket. Cons: From 04/16/17 the tablet will be updated to the latest version of the operating system Android 6.0.1. The main feature is the ability to set up more than one user account. The problem is that you can access it from the lock screen before entering the passcode. Attached is a photo to illustrate. Anyone who picks up a tablet can add a guest account and log into the Google Play Store, enter their email address, download apps not for your money but still surf the web and even view the photos you have on your recorded an account entry. There is no way to change this dropdown menu to only have one user, which is yours! So be careful where you leave your tablet. Another issue with this device's settings is that the notification bar can be pulled down even on the lock screen. The thief can turn on Airplane mode. This undoubtedly makes it difficult to find a tablet without an internet connection. So even if you have Samsung installed, Find My Tablet or Android Device Manager won't do much good as these services require an internet connection. I'll see if the Geek Squad agent can fix these two lock screen issues: Disabling guest accounts. and the ability to collapse the notification bar. I'll update whatever I find out. Update: I have consulted the Geek Squad agent and there is nothing they can do. This is part of the composition of the tablet, built into its settings, and no problem can be solved. I also went to Best Buy and spoke to a Samsung rep who was also unaware of this issue. She promised to take care of it but couldn't find a way to fix any of the issues in Settings. UPDATE: 03/26/18. I installed the latest software update and it fixed both of these security issues. There is no access to the guest account from the lock screen, and no access to the Wi-Fi switch or Airplane mode from the lock screen. Thank you Samsung! camera is bad. 5 megapixels won't do much. I understand they had to trim some of the bells and whistles on this device, so the camera isn't too much of a problem for me. Bad sound. The speaker is on the back so the volume goes away from you. If the speaker was on the side or bottom of the device, it would be a lot louder! There are some design flaws overall, but I'm happy with the larger screen and glad that the lock screen security issues have been fixed with the latest update.
