bolts and nuts were missing so it was worth the trip to the hardware store and the holes on the adapter are much smaller than any standard monitor mount so finding the right bolts and nuts was quite difficult . . The adapter does not fit the monitor at all. The monitor can be lifted right off of it, so you can't rotate the monitor to a vertical position and hope it never hits hard enough to lift it out of the adapter. Also, the price is too high. Should be around $15-20. But there aren't many mounting adapters for this Samsung monitor, so I guess we'll leave it at that.
