We have 3 cats, there is cat hair all over our sofas. This tool is very helpful. Direct vacuuming won't provide the fur enough, but this is where it comes in handy. A few tips: 1) work with the fibers of the fabric (yes) 2) be careful with loose strands, this tool will most likely catch them. and keep pulling them out or tearing them out. 3) If you are using it on a long grain fabric, work slowly until you "feel" it. It can snag and pull them out if you're not careful. If the fabric is of different heights and has dimples in the pattern, this probably won't work. For our use, that's pretty cool. 5 minutes of pre-lint removal with this tool on our sofas/chairs followed by vacuuming will make our sofas usable again. Convenient to use, easy to clean, save time and effort.
