Review on U S Coast Guard Semper Paratus by William Turner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

50 years later I'm still proud of my Coast Guard Cap

I am very proud to have served as a radio operator on board three Coast Guard boats in the mid 60's! We survived three hurricanes and saved the lives of the crews of four ships and did many other search and rescue operations when I was 17-21 years old. I am now 73 years old and I still have the same pride I had when I served aboard Coast Guard Cutter Mendota and Coast Guard Cutter McCullough in Wilmington, North Carolina! The image of the ship in the ice is that of the Coast Guard cutter West Wind, based in Tula, Greenland and in the upper Atlantic. I wear my Sparks radio operator cap everywhere I go, and it gets a lot of talking points from other retired military personnel.
