Works exactly for what it is, an evaporative air cooler. DO NOT expect it to COOL the whole room, it works well as a personal cooler with a breeze feature and speed settings, but it is a water-cooled humidifier and will only cool the air flowing through it by about 4-7 degrees depending on how heavy the ice is That you have in the tank therefore makes the room stuffy at temperatures above 75° or so, unlike an air conditioner that pumps cold, dry air. It is quite quiet and only becomes noticeable at high speeds. I wrapped the tank in a heavy cotton blanket and secured it with velcro, this helps greatly in increasing the time the water stays cool. I also put a small thick cotton towel and a large book on top and added some insulation. Located next to the central air outlet, this small machine greatly improves comfort in a medium-sized master bedroom. Completely satisfied 👍
