My USB port in the center console. It comes off a short 3-foot extension at the back of the main unit. Pretty much every cable I use works fine, charges properly, and runs Android Auto. This cable gave me "slow charging". Message and haven't downloaded Android Auto. It worked exactly once, after some time the head unit didn't recognize the phone. Maybe this cable worked fine, plugged directly into the back of the main unit, I don't know. But then again, I've used some pretty cheap cables this way with no issues, so this issue doesn't bode well. Also, it's quite short. So if you stretched it towards the center console there wouldn't be enough room to hide the cables. So basically I would only recommend trying this cable if you are going to connect it directly to the head unit. And if you do, I would recommend plugging and unplugging the main unit a few times before reinstalling the main unit to make sure it is actually running stably. This also worked for me once. Also due to the construction. While it's a great concept, it's quite fragile, so I wouldn't call it one-handed. You have to hold the thing with one hand somehow.
