Dangerous tip and short lifespan

Before my cat was diagnosed with FLUTD this week I have used this carrier a total of 2 times since buying it in 2017. After this week I have used it 3 times. What bothers me the most is the tip. If you haven't already, watch the video first. You can see there are 2 latches at the top you need to "twist up" to face you and then pull towards you until the top comes loose. The two tabs, which should be facing you, should not come out of their respective placement holes without making physical contact with you as you rotate the tabs. What I've noticed is that when I carry my cat in a carrier, the cat's weight (12-14 pounds) and gravity do their thing and push the tabs out of the holes. The tabs MUST be down and in their small slots. But the more you wear, the more the bars loosen. You still have to pull towards you to fully open the latches, but that shouldn't happen. I don't want to be left with a dead cat. When I look at other top loading carriers they have the same design so based on my bad experience I will use a traditional carrier and set it at a 90 degree angle so I can guide my cat down quickly and easily. No more top loaders for me. Safety is more important than the possibility of him accidentally getting out while I'm carrying him across the street.
