Review on MERKUR MK 70C Adjustable Double Safety by Wendy Parks

Revainrating 5 out of 5

For many it is correct. Not for me now.

I have been shaving with the popular Merkur 34c for a number of years. I didn't use moisturizer so it was very difficult to shave against the direction of hair growth. I did it anyway to get the cleanest + smoothest shave. I figured the increased exposure of the Futur blade would allow me to get much closer to the skin when shaving with a 6 grit setting. Reviews said 5-6 is DANGEROUS. I increased my focus when using it, but I didn't find it difficult or anything at all. Absolutely suitable for those who can use any other safety razor. Pros: It's well made, has excellent weight distribution, and is comfortable to use. It has an Aston Martin aesthetic and is so aesthetic. The top clips are sketchy, but I've dropped them once or twice and the grips have been solid. Cons: (Why I returned it) Overall, it doesn't do anything the $25 model can't. The large head extends beyond the edge of the blade, making it impossible to work on sharp areas such as ears. I sometimes remove the lower leather guard from my 34c to get an extra sharp edge, but I can't do that with the Futur. I found the blade exposure button to be excellent. It didn't rotate when I applied pressure to my head to rotate. The seemingly minimal grip on the handle is actually excellent. The weight is amazing and it feels good to tug lightly while pressing on the diagonal finger grips, this is a craftsman's razor.
