Great lights! the best recessed lighting

i wanted to install them in our house which was built in 1970. The house is great but each room only had one central light and some rooms only had a ceiling fan with small candle bulbs that gave off very little light. These are the best types of recessed lights to install since the actual light itself is no thicker than drywall. We've installed in a few spots where the light hole was partially above the ceiling joist, but that doesn't matter as long as you have enough room to fit the driver into the ceiling. I'm a big fan of light temperatures 3000K - 2700K too warm for an overhead light for my taste. We have dimmers in several rooms and they work great - no flickering or weirdness. I'll say they didn't come with a gasket to seal the hole outdoors or in a humid environment, but some type of sealant will take care of that if you're worried about it. The drivers are really well designed - the compartment that holds the wires closes with a latch rather than a set screw so you need one less tool when going up the stairs. The side knockouts are 1/2" so if you are purchasing Romex knockouts, opt for the 1/2" versions. A few tips that made the installation easier for us: 1) Invest in a specially designed recessed hole saw. This will ensure your holes are the perfect size - I found one at the store but there may be options here at Revain as well. If you are about to cut a hole, run the saw backwards first to mark the ceiling before attempting to drill all the way through. This provides guidance for the saw and prevents the saw from losing control and moving all over the kitchen ceiling - something you definitely don't want to do! 2) Use brown wire nuts. They include a couple of small wire nuts in the package, but if you're fastening to Romex (we used 14/2) you'll be glad you have larger wire nuts. There is plenty of room for three people in the drivers.
