Review on ๐Ÿšฟ KOHLER K-10281-4-BN Fortรฉ Bath Spout - Vibrant Brushed Nickel (1-Pack) - High Quality and Sleek Design by Mike Hernandez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Easy to install but should be 1pc.

This Kohler Forte Spout installs easily on 1/2" copper pipe. The nose doesn't move. It's made of cheap zinc metal like most modern plumbing fixtures. Decades ago it would have been brass, but unfortunately most bathtub spouts today are made of zinc, it lasts 5, 10, 15 years, if you're lucky, usually over time, the interior where the slider diverts the water to the shower head corrodes and no longer performs its function, as zinc is inferior to brass in almost every respect.Ensure that the copper tubing comes straight out of the wall and is not skewed to one side or the other.By inserting a 1/2" diameter steel rod or pipe into the exposed copper tubing , you can easily manipulate and bend the copper in the wall a little g let it be straight and vertical make sure that anything you put in the copper pipe has little to no play or you will warp the copper and make spout installation impossible. It is important that the copper protrudes 3 inches or less from the wall before attaching the spout. You should also sand the copper tubing clean and use clear silicone grease (o-ring/dielectric grease) to lubricate the copper tubing to help the o-ring slide easily over the copper inside the spout. My main complaint about this Kohler is the round bolster that goes behind the spout and separates the wall from the spout itself. It never fits snugly onto the spout itself. The only way to keep it from moving is to use a clear caulk to hold the base firmly against the wall, but it's still good practice to keep water on it to prevent it from seeping past the wall where the copper pipe comes out of the tile.
