Review on Efficient French Cleat Picture Hanger Kit for Securely Mounting Mirrors, Panels, Shelves, Headboards, and More - 5 Pairs by Denise Davis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

These are the durable French boots you've been looking for. I've gone through several.

I needed a heavy duty french clip to attach the king bed headboard shown in the attached picture. I bought and tried every type of spike I could find at the retailer (Lowe's, Home-Depot, and others). Unfortunately I found them too cheap for the purpose although they said they would hold the weight of the package. I didn't trust them. In most cases the actual part of the cleat that connects the top and bottom of the cleat was too thin and flimsy with very little "bite overlap" making your measurements and fit extremely important. I have bought two or three other brands of boots from Revain which were ALL better than the ones I found in retail but they still weren't as good as these! These particular boots from this company are by far the BEST I've tried. It's very strong, has the deepest slat overlap to hold larger, heavier items against the wall, and is also made to make hanging/docking the headboard very easy once the slat is installed (it pulls the headboard straight up against the Wall). Don't waste your time and money on other spikes if you want super strong ones. This is ONE and it was about the same price as the others. so you can thank me later This may be too reliable for very small items (same company makes smaller). Two 30 inch beds attached to 4 studs fit my headboard perfectly. I will be buying another set to have on hand for the next article. I want to hang a large mirror, picture or other headboard on the wall. Note; They all came with mounting screws/drywall fasteners, but if you're installing something that big/heavy you'll need to use the tie bolts on the IMO frame studs. Be sure to keep those dimensions in mind and get one long enough to hit a few bolts. You may have to drill the mounting holes a bit more to get the lag bolt in, but it didn't make much of a difference. I'm very happy with how this project turned out compared to all the frustrations I experienced when I started trying low quality hardware! I don't think you will be disappointed with it!
