I've been using the standard Rok straps for years to secure larger loads e.g. e.g. when there are two of me walking, but these smaller straps are much easier to use with lighter loads. Their narrowness makes them easy to place and they work as intended. The only problem is when you tighten them. Since I connect the straps together to form a loop, they tend to twist when you tighten them instead of tightening. This is not a problem if you attach it to the railing or luggage rack. When not in use, they take up very little space. Rain doesn't work on them, and my last set took years before the color faded, and then only slightly. I keep it in my saddlebag at all times and can fit anything from 12 extra cases of beer to a week's worth of clothing and camping gear.
