Invasion of privacy

Using my Google Pixel 5 running Android 12, here's my experience trying to use the Bluetooth feature on this scale. Despite claiming to be compatible with Google Fit and Fitbit, I couldn't get any of those apps to BT connect to this scale no matter what settings or permissions I tried. It's not even listed as a supported device in those apps, so that's no surprise. I can't speak for Apple Health as I obviously use Android. So you have no choice but to use "Bitafit", the manufacturer's app. It gets a whopping 2.2-star rating on the Google Play Store with less than 1,000 downloads due to numerous issues reported by its users. After installing and running Bitafit: - You must register a Bitafit account immediately. - In addition to BT, Internet location services must also be enabled. If it doesn't, the app will either crash or hang forever trying to get the current weight. There is no option to delete historical measurements in the app. It seems pretty accurate, but the main reason I wanted it to track my weight was for time. Another oddity is that in addition to your weight, it also displays the room temperature. What does this have to do with weight tracking, your guess is as good as mine. Totally useless, of course I already know the room temperature in my house! Worst of all, there's absolutely no reason why my personal information should be sent over the internet to who knows what server, and the requirement to also enable location services raises another red flag. In fact, you don't need an internet connection at all for everything to work. It requires nothing more than a simple BT connection to the app, and my personal data collected is stored directly on my phone. In my opinion, this is all just an invasion of privacy, especially since identity theft is so rampant these days. If you value yours, stay away from this product. After all, it will only serve as an everyday scale at my house. While I know this is a cliche, this product doesn't even deserve the one star I have to give it, which is an extreme understatement.
