I was hoping it had more metal components. Unfortunately, the only metal is the two bars - top and bottom. Everything else is plastic. Also, and this may be obvious, you can't center the phone between the grips. This is because the clip presses against the buttons on the phone. So you have to move your phone off center to compensate. So I need to drill a hole offset about an inch to the right. I then have to cut out that hole with a 1/4-20 so I can move the clip. It would be a good idea to make the entire block metal as that gives you a little extra weight to dampen the shaky shots. The idea is right, but not quite there. If you want to machine something, that's fine.
