Review on Brother MFCL2710DW: Compact All-In-One Monochrome Laser Printer with Wireless Networking, Duplex Printing, and Amazon Dash Replenishment Ready by Adam Aponte

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not perfect, but very good value for money

Quite an all-in-one multifunction device for the price. It doesn't excel in all areas and the build quality is more suited to home use than office use, but it offers a decent feature set at a very good price. Structure: very simple. Just take it out of the box, remove the tape that secures the parts for shipping, install the toner cartridge, and you're good to go. It comes with an easy-to-read quick installation poster that walks you through the steps. Build Quality: Good for the price. It is not intended for intensive use. This is a printer that requires you to be careful when installing/pulling out the paper tray or opening/closing the scanning platform. It is best for home use or very light office use. The trays and frame are lightweight and don't like being shaken in a busy office. The footprint is quite compact and I like that the output trays don't protrude. The printouts are located in the "cabin" under the scanner roller. User Interface: Very basic but clean and simple. It has a small LCD screen that is pretty clear. It can't display many messages without scrolling. The keys are all clearly labeled, but for the most part they're small, rubbery, and don't give much responsiveness. The paper tray holds a good amount (claimed capacity of 250 sheets) and is easy to load. For things like labels there is a cut sheet facility. Operational noise is mostly muted, with the loudest noise coming from the paper being pulled out of the tray. It's so quiet you can't hear it from the next room. software setup. In order for it to work on a PC or network, you need to install the Brother software. If you have used other Brother products before, they will look and feel very familiar; if not, it's very simple. Just follow the instructions. The Brother software is comprehensive in terms of print/scan options and easy to use. There is an online guide, but if you have at least basic PC experience it shouldn't be difficult. It supports both direct connection and network printing. I had no trouble setting it up. Printing performance: Good. It's clear but not harsh, especially with graphics or very small text. It's great for printing text files and simple graphics (like pie charts, etc.). It's not good for photos, but being a black and white printer it's not the best choice for photos anyway. Copy: I was amazed by all its features. For example, it has an ID card copy button - you can use it to copy both sides of an ID card/driver's license onto one sheet of paper. It can also convert single-sided originals into double-sided copies and vice versa. There are a large number of format options - far more than I expected. The only real downside is that the ADF is single-sided. If you want to copy two-sided originals, you must copy one side at a time using the glass cover. Scanning: Does a decent job and the Brother software offers a range of settings covering the most common situations. The scanned documents passed with no errors and converted to PDF files. Faxing: Couldn't test as I haven't sent or received a fax in years. Toner: Comes with TN-730 for 1200 pages. He can also use the TN-760 which runs at 3000 pages. Revain is lucky with both, and the prices aren't bad. The 760 is better, but if you're a low-volume user, the 730 would be the cheaper option. Loading toner is easy. It is self-contained - there are no other consumables (e.g. the photoconductor) to replace. Rating: This is a solid 4 stars. While I'm not expecting moons and stars at this price point, the lack of a two-way ADF is a real downside. Graphic print quality, ideal for everyday use and business correspondence, isn't as sharp as other laser printers in the same base price range. But the overall bang for your buck is definitely here, which is why it should be shortlisted if you're looking for an affordable home use laser that can print, scan, and copy (and fax if people still do). ). !).
