The machine turns off when the toner runs out. Very frustrating!

I've loved my last three or four Brother laser printers. Reliable, fast cars, few problems. And when one of them ran out of toner, I kept printing until I realized the print quality was getting too bad. Only then do I replace the cartridge. However, with this MFCL2710DW, you cannot print when the toner runs out, even if the quality of the previous print was good. Beware of these Brother printers that require a proprietary chip on the toner cartridge

For this MFCL2710 and other recent Brother MFC models (as well as DCP models) the printer must have a toner cartridge (TN730 or TN760 respectively) that has its own chip on the toner cartridge. This makes it impossible to buy 3rd party toner, except for toner that requires you to remove the chip from the Brother toner cartridge (TN730 or TN760) and insert it into the 3rd party cartridge. Important - how to wake 2710DW from DEEP SLEEP

Printer works very well, wireless setup and printing was easy etc. However, when printer goes into DEEP SLEEP, wireless communication becomes useless (you have to manually poll the printer once in DEEP SLEEP for wireless printing). Surprised as Brother refuses to tell us how to disable this annoying feature wherever I can find it (online product manual, forums etc.). Not perfect, but very good value for money

Quite an all-in-one multifunction device for the price. It doesn't excel in all areas and the build quality is more suited to home use than office use, but it offers a decent feature set at a very good price. Structure: very simple. Just take it out of the box, remove the tape that secures the parts for shipping, install the toner cartridge, and you're good to go.
