Review on ๐Ÿ’ป Targus 32-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader TGR-CRD25: Fast and Versatile Data Transfer Solution by Luis Shreibman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It barely works for me.

I noticed that none of the people praising this product mention how exactly their product looks. The thing I received has no "Mercury" written on it and it is different in shape than the one in the main photo on this site. Mine says "power", "usb2.0" and "Targus". I don't know if Revain or the seller mixed up the picture, or maybe this whole page is mislabeled and really is about a completely different product (Mercury Innovations?), or maybe Targus changed what they sell under that SKU number (but then why reuse the damn SKU number?). However, the unit I received matches the photo of the TGR-CRD25 on Targus' own site. However, I can barely use my Targus brand thing with two old (circa 2001-2003) Macs. These Mac computers have USB 1.0 ports. I've never plugged the Targus directly into a USB 1.0 port, but by plugging it into a USB 2.0 hub connected to a Mac, I got lucky. I use it to connect a 4GB SD card. It almost never works by just plugging it in and sticking a card in. Here's the procedure that has worked for me every time: Plug the cable into a USB 2.0 hub or USB 2.0 port on your computer. Disconnect the other end of the cable from the Targus. Insert a memory card into Targus. Now connect the cable to Targus and wait a second. If the blue power indicator is solid, it means it is defective. Turn them off, wait a few seconds and try again. If the blue light blinks a few times, you're in business. I do not guarantee in any way that this will work for you. But if you're desperate or too lazy to return an item (like me) it might be worth a try. Well, maybe five or ten tries.

Pros
  • Scope of delivery: card reader, USB cable and operating instructions.
Cons
  • No Machine
