I have custom orthotics and usually buy Drew shoes, size 6.5 double wide. Before I had a metatarsal problem that required custom orthotics as part of my treatment, I wore standard width shoes with no problem. I wanted something more stylish that was easy to put on and take off (except for velcro closures) and decided to give this a try. Lately I've been thinking about trying a size 7 instead of a 6.5. I ordered Easy Spirit shoes in 7 widths in double sizes and they fit very well. There is not too much space in the trunk and not too little. The leather/mesh combination is comfortable and has good stretch. The outsole in the middle of the shoe is firm and doesn't flex like a hiking shoe. If you have foot problems and need stability or just walk a lot, wear running shoes rather than running shoes that almost cut in half. With a slight tug at the back, they're easy to put on and take off. Belt. They don't feel loose and won't fall off due to the back opening style. I'm glad I bought them.
