Bad in many ways

Update: Below is a review I wrote for the MPB33, Motorola contacted me and allowed me to return the 33 and replace it with the 36S. I like the 36S, pan and zoom controls from the parent unit are good and there are no noise or hiccup issues. Now cons: The battery settles down pretty quickly. I leave the charging cable on my bedside table and the parent unit is plugged in all night. I unplug it in the morning and it works for about an hour unplugged. It loses at least 1 if not 2 bars of performance in just an hour. When my daughter goes to bed in the evening and the device is disconnected from the charger for a few hours, like now, my blood pressure drops to 1 bar. Why? I click on the image every once in a while, but don't leave it for more than a few seconds. Why should it turn on when you connect the parent unit to the charging cable? Thanks to Motorola for asking me to replace my broken unit, but I still believe that baby gear manufacturers don't test their products on people with babies! It's 2016 and people have landed a rocket on Comet, why are we still attached to baby monitors? that noise, hiccups and bugging everyone around? Pros: The camera can be adjusted (manually) up and down and side to side to get the right view, which is great. The picture quality is very good, especially in daylight it is quite nice. That's all! I also like the camera's zoom function, but the baby's face has to be in the right place in the cradle or you'll get a close-up of the zipper or jumpsuit logo. Cons: You either have to press the power button a couple of times or hold it for 5-10 seconds to turn it on and then the buzzing and squeaking starts. The buzz is constant, the squeak disappears after the screen turns off. The volume of these tones does not decrease even if you lower the device volume. In fact, it will often go to a louder beep and buzz and then back to normal levels. Once you get past the beeping and buzzing, you'll need to toggle the screen on and off. You don't have to constantly see the baby's image on the monitor screen, and you certainly save battery power by leaving the screen blank except to check on the sleeping baby. However, when you try to register, an annoying red image appears on the screen, telling you that the image will continue for 5 minutes. This warning goes away over time, but I don't want it to be there! I'm just watching and don't need a huge timing alarm. I don't need the talk function, in my opinion it scares the baby and I accidentally pressed the button once or twice which can seriously disturb my sleeping baby. I also see no need for a music function. All other baby products make music, I swear I saw a tissue dispenser play a tune!?!?! Does the manufacturer really have to waste space and increase the cost of the device, including the music? Seems completely unnecessary, but I don't think you can buy a monitor without one. Maybe I'm the only mother who thinks like that. Overall, the monitor serves its purpose but is clunky at best. If you usually sleep with a sound machine, then take away the canned rainforest and enjoy the white noise of this Motorola!

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Negative impression
