I had a similar diffuser a while back and decided to try the 'new thing' (fancy things where magnets attach various modifiers). They worked fine, but I hated turning the flash holder on and off. And I needed (or at least wanted to try to install Snoot). So I decided to go back and try these out, mostly because you can roll a big one in the nose. I'm glad I did. They are perfect for what I need and easy to assemble/store/move/shape etc. The reflection/distribution they produce is of a very high quality and they don't waste light by sending it everywhere where your camera can't go. If you embroider all day and change modifiers frequently, you might like the fancy magazines, but I honestly don't recommend them. I can highly recommend this. Sometimes the "latest, best” is just something new. This tried and true rebound modifier design works, and the best (latest?) thing that is an improvement is the flex/shape aspect. Try her.
