It scratches a bit (not sure where my scratches came from) but I can clip it to my purse and belt loop to keep it from falling out, which is very useful for a woman with women's jeans and a purse. To fit even in small jean pockets, it's thick but not high or wide so it fits fairly easily if you don't mind some bulk in your pockets. It doesn't look like the quality is going to seriously degrade any time soon unless you really value zero scratches.
