I have a large selection in silver. for macrame. But I had no idea what size cord ends to use. So I bought these thinking I could try all the different sizes until I figured out what I needed. This is exactly what I needed. I'm not an expert so I can't tell if they're really silver plated or just silver colored. I won't be selling what I do (maybe I'll donate some in the future) so that's less of a concern. I wanted this to find out what sizes of cord I would use in different situations and it was perfect for that. I like, that it comes with clasps. I probably won't use chain extenders. since I make jewelry for myself and can easily make things the right length for my own wrist. But they are there when you need them. You'll also need either two pair of pliers (round or similar, anything with narrow tips) or pliers and a jump ring tool to open and close the jump rings (and I'm glad some of those are included here, in different sizes). The ends of my bracelets are a little flat, but these are round. I attach the ends with some glue (using "glue" as a generic term since I've tried several different glues and they've all worked for me so far). Regular old super glue will do. I don't crimp them because the metal won't hold. But it makes sense to choose the smallest end of string that will securely hold what you've been doing (that's what makes this set great). Anyway, instead of spending more time thinking about what size to buy for my faux suede. Wrap bracelets, I'm glad I bought this. And the added bonus is that I can make macrame with cords of different thicknesses and also find the ends to match those pieces here.
