I bought 6 of these so not all broken and walkie talkies (6 Midland BR200) work great without headphones. They look nice, but they don't work very well. The audio recording through the microphone is poor. When clipped to a collar or lapel, it barely picks up your voice. If you hold it closer, it distorts your voice on the receiving end. The sound quality in general is not very good and in dynamics. I have good hearing and find it difficult to understand what is being said. Some of the older gentlemen I bought them for don't understand AT ALL. I was led to think that they are best for people with hearing loss as they sit right in the ear, but I think I was wrong. Finally, the cable is too short. I'm 6'1" and when I clip the earpiece to my collar and run the cable to my waistband radio, it barely reaches my shirt and tugs at it when I run or bend down. I'm disappointed to say the least, I was hoping for so much more.
