The pigtail does not detach from the bulb and the wires are encapsulated in silicone. So if you are buying these as spare trailer bulbs, be prepared with a wire stripper to hard wire them. Overall I am satisfied, however, as mentioned in the description, I wish that the braid was permanently pinned. However, I can only use these bulbs on trailers with a bad scythe, which doesn't happen that often as I only need a spare bulb.
