I had a TM700 then I switched it to SD600, they are almost the same in the main parts, both 3Mos systems and produce the same video quality. I had some doubts before buying this SD90 but am pleasantly surprised. So I compare it to its big brother, the TM700/SD600, on a few key points: * Image quality: very similar, but you definitely see more noise on the SD90 at 1080p than on the TM700/SD600.* OIS (image stabilization): same, very effective but of course the longer zoom of the SD90 can give a different impression.* Handling and speed Almost the same but the SD90 is much smaller and lighter than the TM700/SD600 which is a plus for me.* The zoom range of the SD90 is much better than the TM700/SD600, 21x vs 12x, and quite usable at the far end. Watch this video to see how powerful the zoom is:[.] The only complaints I have are (1) a bit of image noise at 1080p(2) the white balance doesn't seem as accurate as the TM700/ SD600.( 3) Due to the lens size of 41.5mm, no CPL or UV filter can be found. But the much larger zoom range and much smaller size definitely made it worth the purchase. I hope that in the future Panasonic will introduce 3MOS technology in this SD90/TM90 body and then we will have the perfect camcorder!
