My wife and I bought this Hoover carpet cleaner to clean the darker colored carpet in the rented house we currently live in. We have two large dogs and strongly suspect that the previous renter had not cleaned thoroughly before leaving (and we know they had dogs too). Overall this seems like a really efficient machine - if you take the time to clean the carpet beforehand (if you have pets or dogs, vacuum thoroughly with a clean brush and bag and spot cleaner) it does a wonderful job of removing a lot of dirt and other dirt from the carpet. I also highly recommend rinsing thoroughly with soap and water after using the cleaner to ensure the soap does not affect the feel of the carpet fibers. Our big complaint with the machine is that it leaks at the back, right where the reservoir meets the main body. unit revolution. We have tried cleaning the valve and orifice area but to no avail. It's not cumbersome enough to return the device, but it's annoying and just looks dingy. Another downside is that the unit can and will vacuum quickly if you don't vacuum thoroughly, especially if you allow dog hair to collect on the brushes or the vacuum's suction/suction duct.
