Although comfortable on feet, they were difficult to put on. Without a separate tongue and with a thick knit material, it was very difficult for me to put them on. I have back pain and artificial joints that limit bending down to reach my legs for long periods of time, but for those who don't have these limitations, they can be comfortable. I was happy to find enough room for my toes (I like EEE wide shoes). I've tried wearing them with and without socks and in any case I couldn't easily put them on, although they were definitely comfortable once on the foot.
