One of the main reasons for using a strap wrench *seems* to be to tighten pipes and pipe nozzles. I bought it to tighten the shower head to the pipes. Unfortunately, there's no obvious way to tighten the strap enough to tighten something the diameter of a shower pipe. From my measurements, it could probably tighten just about twice the diameter well. However, I was surprised that the strap holds up really well when you twist something (I've tried friction on a lot of items). But please forget it if you intend to use it on anything less than two inches in diameter.
