Review on Jerdon Tri Fold Two Sided Lighted Magnification by Kaushik Inlawker

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Mostly excellent with a few negatives

This is my third Jerdon vanity mirror, identical models and I accidentally bought one about every three years. This is mainly because the lightbulbs are starting to dim as you can see in my attached photos. The new mirror is on the right, my old one is on the left. Notice how much brighter the new lights are at the same settings. I don't know if it shows in my photos, but the bulbs start to darken at the top as they age. Whether you can replace those bulbs or not, my mirror is so caked with dirt and makeup that I'm just buying a brand new mirror. This is a normal mirror but it has some flaws. Basically, I hate the filters Jerdon gives you to see how you look in different lights. The slider doesn't work and the bulbs never align properly for the 'Day' setting. The "Day" setting is really the only useful one - green, purple, and pink are ridiculous; They flatter no one and are totally unsuitable for any home or office I've ever been to! I can't imagine anyone finding these other three settings useful. I want Jerdon to just understand that we need the brightest possible light when doing our makeup and just give us this and that. The reason I keep buying this mirror is because it's the only one I can find with the following features. First I need to have a mirror that connects to the network. I use my mirror A LOT so if I had a battery powered mirror I would be draining my batteries like crazy! Second, I want one with a center mirror that swivels horizontally instead of vertically. I believe that those rotating around a vertical axis are utterly useless. When you need to apply mascara or look down, all you need is a mirror that rotates about a horizontal axis, like Jerdon. Magnification is good but slightly distorted. I don't use the magnifying page often - only for plucking my brows, so I don't need them to be perfect. Overall this is a good product and really one of the few in its class that has these features. I will keep buying until there is something better in this price range. I recommend it, but the buyer should expect to need a new one every three years or so. If you split $35 over three years, you're only paying about $12 a year.
