Review on Altec Lansing MZX1003-BLK Whisper Active Noise Cancelling Headphones – Black by Mark Sergio

Revainrating 1 out of 5

No product support!

Update #2 (10/20/20): After charging and a few hours of use, the headphones would get stuck again; If you unplug them, the green LED is still on, no power cycles, no connect/disconnect. This is the same problem as before; and the only way to reset the headphones is to drain the batteries. Update (10/17/20): Last used these 10/2, went to power on today and they are completely blank. After charging I turned it on and when I wanted to turn it off the voice said "turn off" but the light is still on. My computer still shows Connected. That could explain why the battery was completely dead. Went to the AL site for support, found maybe a firmware update, nothing. I can't even find the MZX1003 on the website. Then I downloaded the app and found that it hasn't been updated for 8 months. Changed my rating from 5 to 1 star due to dead battery and lack of product support. Summary: I have a wired Bose QC25 set from 2016, so I will compare the noise cancellation with them. I've also used the earbuds on my neck for various outdoor activities, so compare them to these. Observations: The user interface is simple. I like that you can enable/disable ANC, which Bose doesn't have; This is particularly useful if you want to continue listening to the audio feed but disable ANC for increased situational awareness. Recommendations: It can get warm over the ears so they're perfect for those who don't mind feeling them on their ears (my wife can't stand it) and who also work in an air-conditioned office which mitigates the extra heat . Like all other ears, they are too bulky for training or outdoor activities. Pros: Bluetooth; battery for 14 hours; range 30 feet; Active Noise Cancellation (toggle on/off) Neutral: A little lukewarm, but all headphones have this issue (including my Bose QC25) Cons: No carrying/storage case included Bottom line: $80. Given the specs, it's 5 stars. If you are looking for light, smaller headphones, I can also recommend SoundMagics.
