Review on πŸ’» TRIGKEY Green G1 Mini PC: Windows 10 Pro, 8GB DDR4, 256GB M.2 SATA SSD, Dual Band WiFi, Dual Gigabit Ethernet, Dual 4K HDMI, USB 3.0, Wake On LAN by Brian Samuel

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Neat mini PC with some quirks. No support for Windows 11 unless Trigkey updates the BIOS.

Despite its small size, the Trigkey Green G1 is a reasonably competent PC. Basic home/school/office applications run smoothly and web browsing is fast, with the exception of a few complex (often ad-laden) pages that can be slow to load. This PC also works well with cloud gaming services, and even 4K 60Hz videos play without too much trouble (tip: disable color transparency effects in Windows 10 for best results). at the bottom, but the VESA mount is not included. Wired connectivity is great, but the onboard WiFi/Bluetooth is an older single-threaded module with a maximum WiFi speed of 433Mbps at 5GHz or just 150Mbps at 2.4GHz. For advanced users, it's worth noting that the G1 has a BIOS issue that disables one of the HDMI ports when you configure the PC for full UEFI mode (CSM is off, which is required for secure boot). The fan is fairly quiet (comparable to a laptop), but Trigkey set it to spin almost continuously. As a result, the PC is audible even in standby mode in a quiet room and generates very little heat. The G1 can be configured via the BIOS setup menu to turn on automatically when plugged in, so it works well in embedded applications or when switching with a power strip. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed, although oddly the sticker on the PC says to do the initial setup with the internet off. The G1 hardware is technically capable of supporting the upcoming upgrade to Windows 11, but unfortunately Trigkey has removed the required TPM functionality from the computer's BIOS, even though the J4125 processor (aka fTPM or PTT) supports this feature. The TPM, fan speed, and HDMI/UEFI issues mentioned above could be fixed with a BIOS update, but it's not clear if Trigkey will release it. Their simple website is devoid of any technical support information or driver downloads, which is not encouraging. Overall, the Green G1 offers solid performance for basic computing, but the outdated WiFi chip and some BIOS-related issues prevent it from earning a full recommendation. If you can live with its limitations, this little PC might be worth considering. Four stars.
