I'm not a hardcore person, sometimes I don't touch the console for months. But every once in a while, when a good game comes out, I can play it all night. I sold my Xbox Elite version - the noise and fun of DVD reading was always annoying and I made up for it by turning up the volume. I chose the slim version because it is much quieter. Really much quieter. When I installed Halo (the first one), I could only turn on the Xbox when my head was inches from the box. Dragon Age: Origins made more noise, but was quiet enough (perhaps reading more data more often?). Definitely much quieter than my previous Elite. There's also a direct digital audio output connection, which means fewer cables. The console itself is smaller, but the glossy finish attracts dust. I am happy with the purchase. In my opinion, 4 stars for a reasonably quiet DVD drive and digital audio output should have been in there from day one. But better late than never. I think the console heats up less, but I'm not sure. Significantly quieter, but it rings when the DVD is ejected.
