Revainrating 4 out of 5

Beware of sharp cutting edges!

Large microplane, very sharp. I love the little rubberized "feet" on the bottom that eliminate the possibility of scratching the surface you place it on to rub. Copes quickly with hard cheese and zest. We love freshly grated asiago, not homemade pasta, so this little beauty is often on the table. However, a small blemish prevents me from giving five stars. When I used it to grate lime zest today, like so many other things, it pooled on the underside of the zest. Without expecting any trouble, I swiped it into the bowl with my index finger. YUUUUU! The zira's curved-back sides have not been machined. One of them severely cut the tip of my index finger. The latest brand of Zester Microplan was handled smoothly so it never occurred to me that this could be a problem. In the future I will definitely use a pastry brush or the tip of a table knife to remove the abraded item. Lesson learned!
