I use these on a textured wall, a smooth bed stand, and on a smooth shiny desk. My surprise they all work and hold great. The biggest surprise is they stay on my textured wall. Most of the get daily use holding my cell phone charger cables, or tablet cables. I put and push the cables in and out of these a couple times a day.
