Revainrating 5 out of 5

Seems to be true: the only bag that works

At first I bought many different brands and types and this is the only type and brand (textured mylar) that fits my high quality vacuum sealer. I have bought them several times in all sizes and ran around 500, will not buy anything else. It took me a while to learn how to do it, lots of techniques to learn how to do it right. It's extremely important that the inside of the bag is clean at the sealing point (no food dust, salt, grease or anything like that, so I run my fingers along the inside edge); that the packaging is due to the fact that it is thin and not rigid, perfectly flat and even on the outside up to the vacuum chamber (I fill in a little more than necessary, close the lid and then grab it from both sides and pull it sideways and a half inches out to smooth out any wrinkles); that the bag is not overfilled, not filled to the point that when it is squeezed, it stretches along the top edges (at the seam line) toward the center, causing creases and consequent leakage of the seal; and if there is any sign of wrinkling in the seal line after the first seal, then I make the second half an inch higher. My only constant issue with them is that they are flimsy (thin) and can pierce when sealing something sharp (grain). , other hard and dry objects) or if I'm not very careful in handling after sealing, even if I can achieve almost 100% success in sealing, I still have variable failure rates (on some products) with no leaks at the top Poetry. One way to deal with this is to leave the product in its original packaging, tear off a corner to open it, and then leave the original packaging as a protective/insulating layer. They're also not completely light-tight and only time will tell if they're also oxygen resistant and live up to what thicker bags promise. I'd rather give 3 or 4 stars for absolute performance (it's far from great), but for relative performance it gets 5.

Pros
  • MULTIPLE USES: Ideal for vacuum cooking, boiling, refrigerating or freezing (for long term storage). Not for use in a microwave oven.
Cons
  • Hardly ever
