Posting because the size chart wasn't very helpful. Small Youth = 7/8 and Medium Youth = 10/12. This is unlike Puma where Small = 7 and Medium = 8-10. There's a big difference between small and medium, but the shorts have an internal drawstring so you can tighten them up. My daughter is 8 years old, size 8 and 7-8 seems small and 10-12 is huge. But the price is right and we always need an extra pair of football pants, so we keep both: 1 for this year and 1 for next year. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that this material is very easy to hook. Stay away from cats or anything with velcro. Thankfully it doesn't look too bad on black, but I guess that's why I wouldn't buy any other colors.
