I had to increase the size.
I'm 5'7" with a muscular/curvy build so I have a hard time finding pants that fit me. I have other plus size champion shorts but they are a bit loose. I'm medium height and they fit snugly around my waist but a bit small for my hips. I have a 28" waist and 41" hips and large muscular thighs. generally fits the waist better. If there was a drawstring it would be better. The length of the shorts is just right, not too short and not too long. The ones in the picture are medium sized and fit well, but they fit and feel uncomfortable to perform an intense workout.
