They add color to your cup. These spoons are NOT for eating, contrary to the description, but for stirring tea, jam, sugar or feeding a baby. When they say "teaspoons," they don't mean standard measurements, but literally a teaspoon. For the price I will enjoy them and not worry if they wear out or break. I would never activate them when using the classic place setting. You have your place.
